General Giovanni De Lorenzo - Head of SIFAR/SID (Italian Secret Service); Head o/t Carabinieri (Italian Paramilitary Police) Quote: THE SECRET NATO COVER
@TEMP = The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) provided international cover for Washington's postwar operations in Italy. A secret clause in the initial NATO agreement in 1949 required that before a nation could join, it must have already established a national security authority to fight communism through clandestine citizen cadres. This Stay Behind clause grew out of a secret committee set up at U.S. insistence in the Atlantic Pact, the forerunner of NATO. Each NATO member was also required to send delegates to semiannual meetings on the subject. *4
U.S. authority for such moves flowed in a steady stream of presidential directives transmitted through the National Security Council (NSC). In December 1950, the council gave the armed forces carte blanche to use appropriate military force even if the communists merely gain participation in government by legal means or threaten to achieve control...or the government ceases to evidence a determination to oppose communist internal or external threats. *5
The CIA helped the Italian police set up secret squadrons staffed in many cases with veterans of Mussolini's secret police. *6 The squadrons were trained for intensive espionage and counter-espionage, against communists and other perceived enemies of the status quo. The plan to use exceptional means was patterned after the highly militarized French intelligence service, the Suret Nationale, which was reportedly so tough on communists that many fled to other countries. *7
The newly organized intelligence agency, SIFAR, began operations in September 1949, under the supervision of an undercover American, Carmel Offie, nicknamed godfather by the Italians. *8 Interior Minister Mario Scelba headed the operation. At the same time, Scelba was directing a brutal repression, murdering hundreds of workers and peasants who sought improved conditions after the war. *9
OPERATION DEMAGNETIZE
With the Italian secret service under control, the Americans then expanded it under the name Operation Demagnetize and tied it to an existing network of cadre in northern Italy. In 1951, the Italian secret service formally agreed to set up a clandestine organization within the military to coordinate with the northern cadres. In 1952, SIFAR received secret orders from Washington to adopt a series of political, paramilitary and psychological operations destined to diminish the power of the Italian Communist Party, its material resources, and its influence on government. This priority objective must be attained by all means. 10
Operation Demagnetize marked the institutional hardening of Gladio. A State Department historian characterized it as the strategy of stabilization, *11 although it could be more accurately described as one of destabilization. From the start, the offensive was secretly directed and funded by the U.S. government. In 1956, the arrangement was formalized in a written agreement, using the name Gladio for the first time. According to 1956 documents uncovered in Italy in 1990, Gladio was divided into independent cells coordinated from a CIA camp in Sardinia. These special forces included 40 main groups. Ten specialized in sabotage, six each in espionage, propaganda, evasion and escape tactics, and 12 in guerrilla activities. Another division handled the training of agents and commandos. These special forces had access to underground arms caches, which included hand guns, grenades, high-tech explosives, daggers, 60-millimeter mortars, 57-millimeter machine guns and precision rifles. *12
In 1956, Gen. Giovanni De Lorenzo was named to head SIFAR on the recommendation of U.S. Ambassador Claire Boothe Luce, the avidly anticommunist wife of the publisher of Time magazine. *13 A key player in Gladio was now in place. In 1962, the CIA helped place De Lorenzo at the head of the national police (carabinieri), while he retained effective control of the secret service.
The general brought with him 17 lieutenants to begin purging insufficiently right-wing officers. It was the first step to a right-wing coup attempt, with U.S. military attaché Vernon Walters in the vanguard. In a memo to De Lorenzo the same year, Walters suggested types of intervention aimed at provoking a national crisis, including blocking a center-left coalition, creating schisms among the socialists, and funding forces favorable to the status quo.14
Meanwhile, according to CIA files found in Rome in 1984, CIA station chief William Harvey began to recruit action teams based on a list of 2,000 men capable of throwing bombs, conducting attacks, and accompanying these actions with indispensable propaganda. 15 These teams had a chance to practice their skills in 1963 as part of an anti-union offensive. U.S.-trained gladiators dressed as police and civilians attacked construction workers peacefully demonstrating in Rome, leaving some 200 wounded and a large section of the city in shambles. The link to Gladio was made in later testimony by a former general in the secret service.16
SIFAR Lt. Col. Renzo Rocca was also training a civil militia composed of ex-soldiers, parachutists and members of Junio Valerio Black Prince Borghese's paramilitary organization, Decima MAS (Tenth Torpedo Boat Squadron), for the pending coup.17 President Antonio Segni reportedly knew of the plan, which was to conclude with the assassination of Prime Minister Aldo Moro, under fire for not being tough enough with the communists.18
The long-planned takeover, known later as Plan Solo, fizzled in March 1964, when the key carabinieri involved remained in their barracks. As a subsequent inquiry moved to question Rocca about the coup attempt, he apparently killed himself, possibly to fulfill Gladio's oath of silence. After officials determined that state secrets were involved, three hamstrung inquiries failed to determine the guilty parties.19
THE STRATEGY OF TENSION
Despite the failure of Plan Solo, the CIA and the Italian right had largely succeeded in creating the clandestine structures envisioned in Operation Demagnetize. Now the plotters turned their attention to a renewed offensive against the left.
To win intellectual support, the secret services set up a conference in Rome at the luxurious Parco dei Principi hotel in May 1965, for a study of revolutionary war. The choice of words was inadvertently revealing, since the conveners and invited participants were planning a real revolution, not just warning of an imaginary communist takeover. The meeting was essentially a reunion of fascists, right-wing journalists, and military personnel. The strategy of tension that emerged was designed to disrupt normality with terror attacks in order to create chaos and provoke a frightened public into accepting still more authoritarian government. *20
Several graduates of this exercise had long records of anticommunist actions and would later be implicated in some of Italy's worst massacres. One was journalist and secret agent Guido Giannettini. Four years earlier, he had conducted a seminar at the U.S. Naval Academy on The Techniques and Prospects of a Coup d'Etat in Europe. Another was notorious fascist Stefano Delle Chiaie, who had reportedly been recruited as a secret agent in 1960. He had organized his own armed band known as Avanguardia Nationale (AN), whose members had begun training in terror tactics in preparation for Plan Solo. *21
General De Lorenzo, whose SIFAR had now become SID, soon enlisted these and other confidants in a new Gladio project. They planned to create a secret parallel force alongside sensitive government offices to neutralize subversive elements not yet purified. Known as the Parallel SID, its tentacles reached into nearly every key institution of the Italian state. Gen.Vito Miceli, who later headed SID, said he set up the separate structure at the request of the Americans and NATO. 22
FRATERNAL BONDS
Two ancient, mysterious, international fraternities kept the loosely-linked Gladio programs from flying apart. The Knights of Malta played a formative role after the war (see box), but the order of Freemasonry and its most notorious lodge in Italy, known as Propaganda Due (pronounced doo-ay ), or P-2, was far more influential. In the late 1960s, its Most Venerable Master was Licio Gelli, a Knight of Malta who fought for Franco with Mussolini's Black Shirts. At the end of World War II, Gelli faced execution by Italian partisans for his Nazi collaboration, but escaped by joining the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps. *23 In the 1950s, he was recruited by SIFAR.
After some years of self-imposed exile in Argentine fascist circles,24 he saw his calling in Italy as a Mason. Quickly rising to its top post, he began fraternizing in 1969 with Gen. Alexander Haig, then assistant to Henry Kissinger, President Nixon's national security chief. Gelli became the main intermediary between the CIA and SID's De Lorenzo, also a Mason and Knight. Gelli's first order from the White House was reportedly to recruit 400 more top Italian and NATO officials.25
To help ferret out dissidents, Gelli and De Lorenzo began compiling personal dossiers on thousands of people, including legislators and clerics. *26 Within a few years, scandal erupted when an inquiry found 157,000 such files in SID, all available to the Ministers of Defense and Interior. *27 Parliament ordered 34,000 files burned, but by then the CIA had obtained duplicates for its archives. *28 http://www.envirosagainstwar.org/know/r ... temid=5479http://miami.indymedia.org/news/2006/09/5759.phphttp://www.beyondweird.com/conspiracies/italy.htmlQuote: That same year, 1956, U.S. Ambassador to Italy Clare Booth Luce—a Dame of Malta and the wife of Time and Life magazine publisher Henry Luce, a key sponsor of the fascist Congress for Cultural Freedom—"recommended" a fellow SMOM member, Gen. Giovanni De Lorenzo, as the new head of SIFAR. In 1962, the CIA helped install De Lorenzo as head of the Carabinieri, while he still maintained control over SIFAR. He began purging officers deemed not sufficiently "anti-communist," in either his eyes or or those of U.S. military attaché Vernon Walters. http://larouchepub.com/other/2005/3205_ ... rince.htmlQuote: SMOM members De Lorenzo and Prince Borghese each supported fascist coups in Italy in 1964 (the Solo Plan) and 1970. http://www.fiu.edu/~mizrachs/pope-die.htmlQuote: With McCone heading the CIA and Angleton as his Chief of Counterintelligence, another Knight of Malta of fascist fame, Italian General Giovani De Lorenzo, who had been the chief of the secret service (then known as Sifar) and in 1962 head of the carabinieri, organized an attempted fascist coup on July 14, 1964 (the Plan Solo) and later became a deputy from the fascist MSI party.18
Six and a half years later, on the night of December 7, 1970 Angleton's Prince Borghese gave the order for Stefano delle Chiaie to proceed with seizure of the Interior Ministry in Rome along with 50 fellow neo-Nazis. (See A Killer's Career, in this issue; and see The Fascist Network, in CAIB, Number 22.) This plot to trigger a fascist coup was called off at the last minute, and Borghese and his neo-Nazi protege delle Chiaie fled to Spain where former SS Commando Skorzeny among others was waiting. 19 http://www.mosquitonet.com/~prewett/caqsmom25.3.htmlhttp://www.uruknet.de/?s1=1&p=32812&s2=12SMOM by mention: http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/kmlst1.htm http://www.namebase.org/cgi-bin/nb06?_D ... _GIOVANNI_Quote: DE LORENZO GIOVANNI Italy 1952-1970

Richard Vincent Allen - Reagan National Security Advisor; Mover and Shaker in US Politics Quote: Richard V. Allen Religion: Roman Catholic Occupation: Government, Activist Party Affiliation: Republican
Nationality: United States Executive summary: Reagan National Security Advisor
In Los Angeles in January 1977, Ronald Reagan floated something past his chief foreign policy advisor: "Dick, my idea of American policy toward the Soviet Union is simple, and some would say simplistic. It is this: We win and they lose. What do you think of that?" Evidently, Allen approved. After Reagan won the 1980 election, he brought Allen to the White House as his National Security Advisor.
Allen resigned on 4 January 1982 as a result of political infighting within the administration which had irreparably damaged his working relationship with the President. At the time there were reports that Allen's departure had occurred under a cloud of controversy -- according to news stories, he had allegedly received a $1,000 bribe from a Japanese magazine in exchange for an interview with First Lady Nancy Reagan. This despite the fact that investigations by both the Justice Department and the White House Counsel found no reason to pursue the matter.
As far as can be determined, the story goes like this: Allen attempted to set up the interview for the Japanese magazine, but failed for whatever reason. So some White House aide wound up arranging the thing, at which Allen happened to be present. Following the interview, the journalists attempted to hand over $1,000 in cash to the First Lady, but Allen reached in and "intercepted" the honorarium. He handed it to his secretary with instructions that the money be sent to the Treasury Department. Unfortunately, the secretary threw the money in Allen's office safe and forgot about it.

Every day members of the Order of Malta pray for “the intercession of the most holy Virgin of Philermos.” The prayer has acquired more vivid meaning for a group from the Federal Association who traveled in July to a mountain town towering over the Adriatic Sea to venerate the ancient icon of Our Lady of Philermos.
From the 14th century, when the Order was based on the island of Rhodes, this icon from the monastery of Mount Philermos on Rhodes was the hospitaller knights’ most precious possession. The Knights took the icon with them to Malta, but when they were forced to surrender Malta to Napoleon’s military forces, the icon began an odyssey through Europe to Russia and down to the Balkan peninsula. Today the icon is in Montenegro, one of Europe’s most ancient nations, in past centuries a kingdom and now the continent’s newest independent republic, having won diplomatic recognition only weeks before the pilgrimage.
Cardinal Theodore McCarrick led the Federal Association’s pilgrimage, organized by Ambassador Thomas Melady and his wife Margaret. The Cardinal and the pilgrim group traveled for six days in Croatia before the culminating visit to Montenegro. Montenegrin President Filip Vujanović welcomed the Federal Association pilgrims to his official residence in Cetinje, near the National Museum where the icon is carefully conserved and displayed in a special chapel. The Orthodox monks of Cetinje also received the pilgrims at the shrine where they keep relics of St. John the Baptist and of the Holy Cross, also formerly in the custody of our Order in Rhodes and Malta. Cardinal McCarrick celebrated Mass for the pilgrims at Montenegro’s 12th-century Cathedral of St. Tryphon on the magnificent bay of Kotor. The Cardinal also celebrated Mass for the group in venerable churches and cathedrals in several cities of Croatia. http://www.smom.org/news.php?article=0123&menu=federal (Proof Positive)

SMOM • Ambassador to the Vatican (1989-93) http://www.learn-usa.com/relevant_to_et ... luence.pdfQuote: Thomas Melady, a member and a former U.S. ambassador to the Vatican, said that in the Washington, D.C., area alone, the Knights of Malta run a soup kitchen, a meals-on-wheels service, and a home for assisted living, as well as providing help at a clinic for the terminally ill.
"As a member, there are two main things. You are expected to contribute money and do hands-on works of mercy -- whether it's dealing with the sick or handing out food in the soup kitchen. We conduct many activities, but it's not with a loud voice," Melady said.
Part of the Knights' mission always has been defending the faith. But unlike the time of the Crusades, that is no longer accomplished through military means, but through quiet dedication to church teachings, Bertie said. http://www.catholicherald.com/cns/malta-knights.htmSocial Network Diagram:

John Anthony Volpe - Governor of Massachusetts; US Ambassador to Italy; US Secretary of Transportation; President Associated General Contractors of America Quote: John Anthony Volpe (December 8, 1908 - November 11, 1994) was a Governor of Massachusetts and a U.S. Secretary of Transportation.
Volpe was born in 1908 in Wakefield, Massachusetts.[1] He was the son of Italian immigrants Vito and Filomena (Benedetto), who had come from Abruzzo to Boston's North End in 1905; his father was in the construction business. On June 18, 1934, Volpe married Jennie Benedetto, with whom he had two children, John, Jr. and Jean (m. Rotondi).
Volpe attended Wentworth Institute in Boston and entered the construction business, building his own firm in 1930. During World War II, he volunteered to serve stateside as a United States Navy Seabees training officer. In 1953, he was appointed as the Massachusetts Commissioner of Public Works, and in 1956 he was appointed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower as the first Federal Highway Administrator.
He was elected Governor of Massachusetts in 1960, and served from 1961 to 1963, before narrowly losing reelection in 1962 to Endicott Peabody. In 1964, he ran for Governor again and won, and was re-elected in 1966 for the first four-year term in Massachusetts history.
During his administration, Governor Volpe signed legislation to ban racial imbalances in education, reorganized the state's Board of Education, liberalized birth control laws, and increased public housing for low-income families. Governor Volpe also raised revenues by increasing the state sales tax to three percent. He served as President of the National Governor's Association from 1967 to 1968.
In 1968, Governor Volpe ran as a "favorite son" candidate for the Republican presidential nomination. Following the election of Richard M. Nixon, Volpe was named Secretary of Transportation. He resigned as Governor to assume the cabinet post, and served in that position from 1969 to 1973. During his administration as Secretary of Transportation, Amtrak was created. In 1973, Volpe was nominated by President Nixon and confirmed by the Senate as U.S. Ambassador to Italy, a position he held until 1977.
Governor Volpe died in 1994, and is buried in Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. The John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center in Cambridge was named in his memory, as well as the Governor John A. Volpe Library at Wakefield High School in Wakefield.
The papers of John A. Volpe are in the Archives and Special Collections of the Northeastern University Libraries, in Boston MA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_A._VolpeQuote: John A. Volpe AKA John Anthony Volpe

http://www.nndb.com/people/935/000128551/Quote: The signal accomplishments of Volpe's second term as governor were the passage of a 3% sales tax and the amendment of the state constitution to make the governor's term four years long instead of two years. Riding the success of his tax program, with its new jobs and new revenues, Volpe was easily re-elected in 1966, to become Massachusetts' first four-year governor.
In 1968, Spiro Agnew was selected over Volpe as Richard Nixon's running mate. After the election, he was offered the position of Secretary of Transportation. Volpe took the position in 1969, and went on to champion highway safety and the continuing expansion of the federal interstate system he had begun under Eisenhower.
Upon Nixon's re-election, Volpe was offered the post of Ambassador to Italy in 1972, a position that drew on his natural affability, his boyhood language skills, and the strong ties to the Italian-American community that he had maintained throughout his entire adult life. Posted to Italy during a time of political and social upheaval there, he did much to strengthen American ties with Italy, while also weathering the international fallout from Watergate and the change of administration.
After Jimmy Carter's election, Volpe resigned his Italian post in 1977 and returned to private life. During his retirement, he continued to be involved in charitable organizations and the state GOP, particularly in the area of highway and driver safety. Volpe chaired a commission on drunk driving under President Ronald Reagan in 1982; it was his last official government role.
Volpe was a successful businessman and an accomplished public servant. Recognized by many for his sharp intellect, honesty, and loyalty, he received over 30 honorary degrees and was a member of many honorable associations, among them the Knights of Malta, the Society of American Military Engineers, the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, and the Sons of Italy. Volpe died on 11 Nov, 1994, survived by his wife, Jennie, and two children. http://www.lib.neu.edu/archives/collect ... oghist.htm (Proof Positive)

Active in numerous civic, business, cultural and community associations, Siegfried has served on the board of directors for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University; Oklahoma State University; University of Tulsa; American Boxing Federation; University of Portland; Tulsa Aerospace Alliance and the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. He also chaired the Metropolitan Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, the Tulsa Area United Way, and the Institute of Nautical Archeology at Texas A&M University. He currently serves on boards of the University of Notre Dame, Tulsa Community Foundation, Oklahoma Aquarium Foundation and President-elect of Conquistadores del Cielo. Siegfried also serves as Chairman of the Board for the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.
In 1990, Siegfried was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and received the "Brotherhood Award" from the National Conference of Christians and Jews. He and his wife, Milann, were honored with a "Humanitarian Award" from the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, Colorado in 2000. ©South Bend Tribune Feb. 1, 1943 -- Oct. 6, 2005
Chairman of The NORDAM Group, he was an Aviation Industry Leader, Humanitarian and Philanthropist
Ray H. Siegfried II, died at 62 on October 6, 2005, after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), known as "Lou Gehrig's disease." Siegfried, chairman of the privately held NORDAM Group, grew the company from a bankrupt acquisition with eight employees in 1969 into one of the largest independently owned aerospace companies in the world.
Despite his illness, Siegfried remained engaged in the day-to-day business activities and decisions of NORDAM. He enjoyed sharing his entrepreneurial spirit and vision in his sessions with company management, stakeholders and his many industry friends. He was active each day during his personal struggles, and provided us hope, pride and a humbling example of how to make the most of each day that God gives you. His actions, faith, and desire to succeed propelled him until the very end. Only this summer, he toured company facilities and led all-hands meetings, and was very much an inspiration to his family, friends and NORDAM stakeholders. He lived to watch the company prosper and rebuild itself during the difficult economic times faced in the post-9/11 economic recession.
Siegfried was born in Tulsa and graduated from Cascia Hall Preparatory School in 1961. In 1965 he received his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Notre Dame, where he had received numerous awards on the boxing and wrestling teams.
Upon graduation, Siegfried was commissioned as second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He completed Army paratrooper training at Fort Benning, Ga., and was assigned to Camp Kaiser and the 2nd Battalion 17th Mechanized Infantry Brigade on the Demilitarized Zone in South Korea. While on active duty, he was a coach of the Army boxing team. He returned to Tulsa in 1967 and completed his service in the U.S. Army Reserves, while joining the family's insurance company as a credentialed salesman.
In 1969 his family acquired the bankrupt Northern Oklahoma Research, Development and Manufacturing Company, called NORDAM. Siegfried, then only 26 years old and with no aviation experience, grew the floundering company of eight employees into a $500 million global leader in aerospace manufacturing, repair and overhaul. Following his diagnosis with ALS in October 2001, Siegfried ceded the position of CEO and became chairman. Despite being confined to a wheelchair and later using an Eye Gaze computer when he could no longer speak, Siegfried spent the last years of his life completing the succession planning, leadership and governance structure necessary to achieve his dream of growing NORDAM into a $1 billion company.
Siegfried's business success allowed him to support the aviation, education, humanitarian and civic initiatives that mattered to him most. His aviation career was distinguished by his chairmanship of the General Aviation Manufacturers' Association in 2002. In 2003, Siegfried was honored by the National Business Aviation Association with its "First Century of Flight Award," in recognition of his lifelong contributions to aviation.
Siegfried served his beloved alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, on the Board of Trustees, the Facilities and Campus Planning Committee, and the Academic Affairs Committee. He and his father dedicated Siegfried Hall dormitory in 1988. The Ray and Milann Siegfried family and The NORDAM Group donated the MBA wing of the College of Business Administration in 1995. In 1997 the Ray and Milann Siegfried family funded the Chair for Entrepreneurial Studies.
Siegfried also supported education by serving on the boards of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the University of Portland and the University of Tulsa. He received an honorary Doctor of Law degree from Notre Dame in 1992 and an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Portland in 2002.
Siegfried received the National Conference of Christians and Jews' "Brotherhood Award" in 1989. In 1991 Siegfried was received as an affiliate of the St. Augustine Order of the Catholic Church, and in 1992 was invested as a Knight in the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. In 2000 he received the "Humanitarian Award" from the National Jewish Medical Research Center.
Siegfried also served his community and was honored with numerous civic awards. The Notre Dame Club of Tulsa named him "Man of the Year" in 1980. When Siegfried served as chairman of the Tulsa Area United Way in 1987, the campaign set a new record for contributions. Later that year, he was inducted into the Headliners Club by the Tulsa Press Club. Siegfried received the Gold Knight of Management Award from the National Management Association's Eastern Oklahoma Council in 1988. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1990. He was president of The Tulsa Club, and served as the treasurer of the city's St. John Medical Center. He was a director of the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, chairing their 1991 capital campaign, and was director of the Tulsa Community Foundation. Prof. Dr. Peter Beyerhaus - Leader o/t Masonic Lausanne Movement; Director of the Institute of Missiology and Ecumenical Theology at Tübingen University; Chairman of the Executive Committee o/t International Christian Network Quote: Prof. Dr. Peter Beyerhaus
Biographical Notes
Peter Paul Johannes Beyerhaus was born in 1929 as eldest son of a Lutheran minister in Eastern Germany. He received his school education in Berlin, where he also commenced his theological studies in 1947. His universities were Berlin, Halle, Heidelberg, Bonn and Uppsala. He worked as theological assistant to Professor Dr. Walter Freytag in Hamburg 1953-1954. After some research studies in London he took his M. Th. and D. Th. degrees at Uppsala University under the tutorship of Professor Bengt Sundkler, Th. D. in 1956.
His doctoral thesis was "Die Selbständigkeit der jungen Kirchen als missionarisches Problem", which was edited in a shortened version by Henry Lefever of Selly Oak College, Birmingham "The Responsible Church and the Foreign Mission", Eerdmans 1964.
In 1957 Dr. Beyerhaus went with his Swedish wife to South Africa to take up missionary service with the Berlin Mission Society in Transvaal and Natal. 1960 he took up a lectorship in New Testament at Lutheran Theological Seminary in Natal. In 1964 he became Rector of this institution in Umpumulo.
In 1965 he accepted the call to become professor at Tübingen University and director of its Institute of Missiology and Ecumenical Theology, in which capacity he served until his retirement in 1997. His special fields of study are separatist and nativistic movements in Africa, the biblical theology of mission and the history and ideology of the Ecumenical Movement. His main work, a Theology of Christian Missions, appeared in 1996 under the title: "Er sandte sein Wort" (He Sent His Word), 850 pp.
In January 1973 Beyerhaus went as theological consultant to the 8th World Missionary Conference at Bangkok. Similarly he attended as an observer the 5th and 6th Assemblies of the World Council of Churches in Nairobi 1975 and Vancouver 1983 as well as the 10th World Missionary Conference at San Antonio, Texas, in 1989 and wrote critical analyses of the proceedings and findings.
A further outcome of this engagement was the drafting of the "Frankfurt Declaration of the Fundamental Crisis of Christian Mission" (1970), as well as the "Berlin Declaration on Ecumenism" (1974). They were issued by the Theological Convention of Confessing Fellowships, in which he was elected President in 1972. - When in July 1978 in London the International Christian Network was established as an aid to Christians "to uphold unfalsified biblical standards of doctrine, ethics and church order as over against anti-christian currents both inside and outside the churches", Peter Beyerhaus was elected chairman of its executive committee. In March 1980 the was invited by Pope John Paul II in private audience to share with him his ecumenical concerns.
Almost every year since 1971 Beyerhaus has been following invitations to visit various countries including those in North and S. America, Africa, Asia and Oceania. This brought him in vital contact with churches, missions and theological training institutions in all parts of the world. He gave guest lectures, conducted refresher courses for missionaries, addressed student meetings and participated in evangelistic enterprises, including the huge rallies EXPLO '74 and '80 World Evangelization Crusade in Seoul, Korea, which were attended by more than a million people. Beyerhaus was one of the main speakers at the International Congress on World Evangelization in Lausanne 1974. Consequently he was elected member of the Lausanne Committee of World Evangelization. In this capacity he attended also the Consultation on World Evangelization in Pattaya, Thailand 1980 and several missiological consultations. He served also as an advisor of the Theological Commission of World Evangelical Fellowship and of Asia Theological Association. At the International Congress on World Evangelization Lausanne II in Manila in 1989 he conducted a seminar on World Evangelisation and Eschatology.
In March 1983 Professor Beyerhaus was appointed Knight in the Order of John the Baptist by Prince Wilhelm Charles of Prussia.
From 1989 until 1994 he was Rector of "Freie Hochschule für Mission", a training institution for missionaries at Korntal in affiliation with Columbia Bible Seminary and Graduate School of Missions. - In April 1996 he was bestowed an honorary doctorate by Trinity International University and appointed visiting professor there.
After his retirement from Tübingen University Peter Beyerhaus is still serving as visiting professor at several theological faculties in European and oversea countries.
Peter Beyerhaus was married to Ingegärd Kalén in 1955 in Sweden. They became parents of five children and had 11 grandchildren in 2003. http://www.institut-diakrisis.de/pbeyerhaus_en.html http://www.institut-diakrisis.de/aktuell.htmlQuote: Apparently the word “diakrisis”, which means ‘discernment’ in Greek, is an important gnostic term referring to the meditation technique used to achieve gnosis—the forbidden knowledge of the deep things of Satan. Why would Alan Morrison, a former New Ager with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Gnostic heresy, its terminology and practice, as evidenced in his book, The Serpent and The Cross, choose for the name of his ministry a term which has a dual meaning and is fraught with esoteric connotations? We can readily understand why Peter Beyerhaus, a Knight of Malta and leader of the Masonic Lausanne Movement, would choose to call his ecumenical organization *Diakrisis* Institute.
Beyerhaus’ International Convention of Confessing Fellowships gave its publication the name of Diakrisis in 1980. Morrison speaks of Beyerhaus and his Conference of Confessing Fellowships with some degree of familiarity in his 1993 book, The Trojan Horse in the Church. In spite of his hollow denials, it is probable that Alan Morrison knew of Beyerhaus and his organization before he founded Diakrisis International in 1990. Considering that Morrison had knowledge of Beyerhaus and his Diakrisis magazine well before he cares to admit, serious questions arise about the name he chose for Diakrisis International. http://www.watch.pair.com/cult-diakrisis.htmlhttp://www.moriel.org/notice/wolves.htmQuote: Alan Morrison maintains that Diakrisis International is not affiliated with Diakrisis Institute and that he only learned of Beyerhaus and his organization two years ago:
“In March 2000, I was invited to a meeting with Peter Beyerhaus from the Diakrisis Institute in Germany. I had no prior knowledge of them before they contacted me. I got the impression that they [sic] an academic group who were a little put out to discover that I had already used the same name as them for some years and that I also owned the domain names of Diakrisis (they were thinking of setting up a website at the time). They said that they wanted to talk to me to see if we had any common ground. There was a hint of some funding. I was living in Holland at the time and the journey there was only a drive away. I was curious about this organisation and why they were interested in me. I duly went to the meeting with my wife Catherine. However, we found the entire thing very bizarre. I was deeply disturbed by what happened there, not to mention the fact that Beyerhaus is heavily connected with the ecumenical movement, has fudged numerous issues in dialogue with leading Catholics and is also a member of the shady Knights of Malta. I knew none of this before I went to this meeting. On 11th April 2000, I wrote to those who, at the time, were my sponsors of Diakrisis and reported the following:
“I had a meeting with a board in March, which carried some promise of funding. But nothing could have been further from the truth. I was being sucked (suckered?) into a situation in which Diakrisis would have been dissolved and absorbed into a most unsatisfactory scenario. I can't go into it more here; but suffice it to say that Catherine and I regarded it as a subtle move on the part of the enemy to castrate the ministry of Diakrisis entirely". http://www.watch-unto-prayer.org/cult-d ... tml#graberQuote: On Friday, October 13 in the year 1307 A.D., the Knights Templars were arrested by King Philip IV of France in collusion with Pope Clement V. Might the Fatima vision in 1917 have been a sign of the coming vengeance determined upon Rome by the Templars? Bishop Graber, whose associations include Knight of Malta, Peter Beyerhaus, may be sending an esoteric message that Virgo will be the sign in the heavens which will precede the coming of Horus, the pagan messiah who will avenge the Knights Templars by destroying the Roman Catholic Church. http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/merov ... asty01.htm<No Social Network Diagram>

Mr. Scripps, 74, will become chairman of the board's executive committee. He is also chairman of the trustees of the Edward W. Scripps Trust, the company's controlling shareholder.
Mr. Scripps began his career in 1941 as a reporter for The Cleveland Press, the first newspaper founded by his grandfather.

They’ve said Mass for us and met with us.” Burke said she could not understand the apparent lack of hospitality on the part of Egan.
Last September Pamela Hayes wrote to Egan notifying him of the New York meeting. She received a warm reply, she said, in which the cardinal said details of his involvement could be worked out later. Meanwhile, Justice Burke, who is a Dame of Malta, along with another board member who is a knight, invited all 13 board members to gather for the dinner to be held the evening of Jan. 17, just after the conclusion of the board’s own meeting. The knights’ annual white-tie gala at the Waldorf-Astoria, regularly draws 800 to 1,000 attendees with tickets at $250 a person. Burke said she and the other Malta members intended to host the full board. Besides Burke, the Malta members on the national review board are William Burleigh, chair and former CEO of E.W. Scripps; Raymond Siegfried, CEO of the NORDAM Group; and Dr. Paul McHugh, head of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. When Burke met Egan at the bishops’ conference in November, she told him of the plans.
Weeks later as the full board was meeting in Covington, Ky., they received a conference call from a high level member of the bishops’ conference, whose name they declined to divulge. He stated that Egan did not want non-knights attending the dinner. The presence of the full board, he said, might cause controversy and might take attention away from the knights’ good works. The spokesman also relayed word that Egan did not want McChesney speaking in New York, though no reason was reportedly given for this order. http://ncronline.org/NCR_Online/archive ... 12403e.htmQuote: The review board meeting coincided with a dinner for the Knights of Malta, an elite organization of Catholic lay persons active in the church. James M. Moroney Jr. - COO, CEO and Chairman of Belo; President and CEO of The Dallas Morning News; Director and Founder of Cistercian Preparatory School in Irving (Jesuit) Quote: On February 18, 2007, Belo lost one of its greatest leaders, James M. “Jimmy” Moroney, Jr., at the age of 85. For more than 60 years, Jimmy helped drive the evolution of Belo into one of the nation’s largest media companies. Jimmy’s forward thinking led Belo’s expansion into broadcast television and new markets outside of Dallas. He exerted a steady and powerful influence on the Company’s transitions and expansions over half a century, and in many instances, he was the pivotal influence. In the 1970s, he played a critical role in converting Belo from a privately-held company founded by his grandfather, George Bannerman Dealey, into a vibrant publicly-traded company.Jimmy began working part-time for the company during summers while he was a student at the University of Texas in Austin. He joined The Dallas Morning News as a reporter in 1946 after serving in the U.S. Navy. He held numerous positions with the Company and in 1951 was named assistant treasurer, followed by his election to the board of directors in 1952. He was named treasurer in 1955, and vice president and treasurer in 1960. In 1970, he was promoted to executive vice president of Belo Corp. and president and CEO of Belo Broadcasting Corp. Four years later, he was named chairman of Belo Broadcasting. In 1980, Jimmy became president and chief executive officer of The Dallas Morning News and president and chief operating officer of Belo. He became chief executive officer of Belo in 1983 and the following year was elected chairman of the board. During his tenure as CEO, Jimmy was instrumental in the purchase of the Corinthian Broadcasting Group from The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation. At the time, the $606 million transaction was the largest ever in U.S. broadcast history. Jimmy retired as chairman of the board and chief executive officer in December 1986 at age 65. From 1987 to 2000, he remained on the board, serving as chairman of the executive committee, and upon retirement from the board, he was named chairman emeritus. Jimmy Moroney will be remembered always for his personal humility and unwavering belief in Belo’s institutional purposes. http://www.belo.com/annualreport/2006/b ... etter.htmlQuote: James M. Moroney Jr.: 1921-2007 Longtime executive shaped Belo, Dallas Retired CEO, News publisher known for genial nature, tireless church, civic support 02:09 PM CST on Monday, February 19, 2007 By JOE SIMNACHER / The Dallas Morning News jsimnacher@dallasnews.comFor almost half a century, James M. "Jimmy" Moroney Jr.'s vision, generosity and genial nature shaped The Dallas Morning News, its hometown and its parent company, Belo Corp. He died Sunday at the age of 85. James M. Moroney Jr.'s colleagues said he had steady leadership and constant concern for the company, its employees and its customers. Mr. Moroney's life linked the founding of The News to Belo's expansion into broadcasting and its emergence as one of the nation's largest publicly traded publishing and broadcasting companies. He was the last surviving grandson of George Bannerman Dealey, who founded The News at the behest of Col. A.H. Belo in 1885. He served a record 48 years on Belo's board of directors, where he was chairman emeritus at the time of his death. He held virtually every senior management job at the company over a period of 40 years.
Colleagues credited him with steady leadership and constant concern for the welfare of the company, its employees and its customers. "He will be remembered always for his personal humility and unwavering belief in Belo's institutional purposes," said Robert W. Decherd, Belo's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Jimmy Moroney exerted a steady and powerful influence on the company's transitions and expansions over half a century. ... In many instances, he was the pivotal influence." Mr. Moroney's son, James M. Moroney III, publisher and CEO of The News , said his father was motivated partly by a keen sense of duty to the founders of the company, particularly his grandfather. WFAA-TV remembers James M. Moroney Jr. Mr. Dealey "made a real impression on him, as he did so many people," Mr. Moroney III said. "My dad always felt a duty, a responsibility, to serve the company in the legacy of G.B. Dealey. His sense of dedication and loyalty to the company is what really distinguishes his relationship to the company. "He loved the newspaper business, and he loved the TV business – he really did," Mr. Moroney III said. "And he liked people." [...] Church activities Mr. Moroney was a major supporter of the religious and civic activities of the Catholic Church. Some of those contributions were quite public, if only because they were so hard to miss. Mr. Moroney and his wife made a gift to complete the bell tower of the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe in downtown Dallas. A lack of money had forced the cathedral to go without a bell tower for more than 100 years until 2005. But often, friends said, Mr. Moroney contributed quietly, behind the scenes. Ed Schaffler, president and chief executive officer of the Catholic Foundation, said he had never known Mr. Moroney to reject a request, whether for financial help or leadership. "Jim has been one of these philanthropists who has been very visible in some of the things he's done and in some of the things he's supported," Mr. Schaffler said. "But he's also one of these guys who doesn't tell you everything he does. ... He's done a lot of things that he just keeps private." Mr. Moroney was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas for more than 50 years. "Jim was always a little bit more noble than the rest of us," said Harry "Buzz" Crutcher, a longtime friend of the Moroneys. "He always did the right thing. "You couldn't find a person who lived his faith any more true and consistently than Jim. He was just a great example of a Christian." Mr. Moroney was a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher and a Knight of the Order of Malta. He served as president of Catholic Charities and was a director and founder of Cistercian Preparatory School in Irving, the Jesuit School (now Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas), the Catholic Foundation, the Montserrat Retreat House and the National Conference of Catholic Charities. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 79e08.htmlQuote: Moroney remembered for service to parish, family, Belo Mass celebrates life of a gentle man: 'Two words, not one' 08:50 PM CST on Friday, February 23, 2007 By ALAN PEPPARD / The Dallas Morning News apeppard@dallasnews.comJames M. Moroney Jr. amassed a list of monumental achievements over his long career in the family's newspaper and broadcast business, but he never allowed that record to overshadow his humility and sense of duty to family, church and city. Friday morning, a funeral Mass was celebrated for Mr. Moroney at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Oak Lawn parish where the retired Dallas Morning News and Belo Corp. executive and his wife, Lynn, were members for more than 50 years. The Rev. John Cawley, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, prepared Communion during the funeral Mass for retired Belo executive James M. Moroney Jr. on Friday. The last surviving grandson of George Bannerman Dealey, who founded The Dallas Morning News in 1885, Mr. Moroney died Sunday at age 85. Belo "was the center of his life, but always second to his family and his church," said Robert Decherd, who succeeded Mr. Moroney as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Belo, parent company of The News. "Jim and Lynn Moroney were a cornerstone of this parish," said the Rev. John Cawley, pastor of Holy Trinity, a 100-year-old church that has seen its neighborhood rise, decline and rise again. "Decade after decade after decade, Sunday after Sunday, he joined us for the Eucharist. Jim and Lynn Moroney remained in this parish when others fled." Mr. Moroney also lived out his faith by supporting many institutions across the Dallas area. He was president of Catholic Charities and was a director and founder of Cistercian Preparatory School in Irving, the Jesuit School (now Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas) and the Catholic Foundation, among other organizations. He also was chairman of the board of trustees at the University of Dallas for many years. At Friday's service, several church rows were reserved for members of the Catholic orders to which Mr. Moroney belonged, including the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher and the Knights of Malta. They followed the casket into the sanctuary. Mass celebrants included Dallas Bishop Charles V. Grahmann; Monsignor Milam Joseph, former president of the University of Dallas; and the Rev. Denis Farkasfalvy, abbot of the Cistercian Abbey. Journalist and family friend Kirk Dooley described the Moroney family home in Highland Park as a place where kids were always welcome, where the conversation was often boisterous and the fellowship inspirational. "Mr. and Mrs. Mo created a friendly environment by creating four friendly kids," Mr. Dooley said. "And Mr. Mo's love for Lynn was so deep, his love was so strong, it rubbed off on all of us around him." Before Mr. Moroney could marry Helen Claire "Lynn" Wilhoit, however, he first had to win her away from her then-fiancé, bandleader Ted Phillips. Mr. Dooley told a story familiar in family circles. Mr. Moroney asked his father, Belo executive James McQueen Moroney, to advise him. The senior Moroney reportedly said: "You're not getting any younger, and you're not getting any better looking. Go get her." After serving in the Navy during World War II, Mr. Moroney joined The News full time in 1946, the year Mr. Dealey died. Mr. Moroney shepherded the family company into a multi-platform, publicly traded media company. In 1983, he oversaw Belo's $606 million purchase of Corinthian Broadcasting Group, the largest transaction in U.S. broadcast history at the time. Mr. Decherd said he phoned Mr. Moroney at his hotel in New York to report that the deal was done and the contracts ready. "With his typical enthusiasm, Jimmy said, 'That's great. I've been cooped up in this room for three days practicing my signature,' " Mr. Decherd said. When Ward Huey first met Mr. Moroney, he was a cameraman at Belo-owned WFAA-TV in Dallas. One day in the newsroom, Mr. Huey and his co-workers were told Mr. Moroney would be coming to the studio the following day. According to Mr. Huey, "The boss said, 'I want you to try as hard as you can, even if it's for the first time, to look industrious. If you meet him, you'll like him. But then, think of the other side of the coin: Will Jim Moroney like you?' " Mr. Huey joked that that last admonition "made for a relaxing evening." In the years that followed, the two became good friends, and Mr. Huey eventually succeeded Mr. Moroney as president of Belo's broadcast division. To those who knew and loved him best, though, Mr. Moroney's career achievements were peripheral to the core of a devoutly religious man who once considered a career in the priesthood, a man devoted to his wife, his two daughters and his two sons. "I would describe Jimmy Moroney in two words: 'gentle man,' " Father Cawley said. "Two words, not one." Father Cawley said that many times after leaving the parish, he would drive through Highland Park, taking Armstrong Parkway north where it approaches the house the Moroneys shared for 47 years. Countless times, he recalled, "I'd see Jimmy walking with Lynn, hand in hand." http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... f7644.html<No Social Network Diagram>

William A. Wilson - Reagan's Ambassador to the Vatican; Member o/t Board of directors of Pennzoil Co.; Member o/t Board of directors and Member o/t Audit Committee o/t Earle M. Jorgensen Company<NO FACE PICTURES FOUND> Quote: William A. Wilson was born in Los Angeles, California, on November 3, 1914. He was graduated from Stanford University with a degree in mechanical engineering, and is a registered mechanical and metallurgical engineer in the State of California. Mr. Wilson's varied career has included service in the U.S. Army as captain in the Ordnance Corps during the Second World War. After his father's retirement, Mr. Wilson assumed presidencey of the former's company, Web Wilson Oil Tools, Inc., until its sale in 1960.
Mr. Wilson is a long-time friend and supporter of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan. While governor, Mr. Reagan appointed him first to the Commission of Californias, an organization promoting relations between California and Baja California; and later to the Board of Regents of the University of California, of which he is also a member of the investment, finance and audit committees. Mr. Wilson's concern for education is also evident in his service as a member of the California Post Secondary Education Commission.
On February 11, 1981, President Reagan appointed Mr. Wilson as his personal representative to the Holy See. Even though, at the time, 85 other countries designated their representatives as ambassadors, full diplomatic relations at that level were not viable because of an 1867 U.S. law promulgating the doctrine of separation of Church and State by prohibition of the establishment of a U.S. legation to the Vatican. However, on January 10, 1984, legislation overturned the law, which had been passed at a time of considerable anti-papal sentiment in the U.S. Only since 1977 had there been any serious attempt to overturn it. Legislation to establish diplomatic relations with the Holy See was introduced by Representative Clement Zablocki (D-Wisconsin), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Repeal of the 1867 law meant formally recognizing Pope John Paul II as a major world statesman. On March 7, 1984, Mr. Wilson's appointment as first U.S. ambassador to the Vatican was confirmed in the U.S. Senate.
Ambassador Wilson retired from post in 1986. Since then, his interest in various enterprises has kept him well occupied. He is a member of the board of directors of the Pennzoil Company; a member of the board of directors and a member of the audit committee of the Earle M. Jorgensen Company, which has 18 steel plants around the nation; and is active in real estate development and cattle interests in the U.S. and Mexico. A devoted supporter of humanitarian organizations, Mr. Wilson's civic activities include serving as a member of the board of trustees of St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California.
What must be one of Ambassador Wilson's keenest interests, however, is amateur radio. His ham career began in the early thirties when his second cousin, Cal Smith, W6BRD, taught him the code. The latter was chief engineer of KFAC and later became president of that Los Angeles radio station. Young Bill Wilson found time to operate as W6GAD after high school and from his fraternity house at Stanford University. After the Second World War, he had to renew his license and passed the requisite exam to earn the call sign, K6ARO (Amateur Radio Operator). During his tenure in the Vatican City, the ambassador's many duties did not preclude the pursuit of his hobby. At his suggestion, the Knights of Columbus donated new equipment to the Vatican amateur radio station HV1CN that was officially blessed by Archbishop Paul C. Marcinkus, pro-president of the papal commission for the Vatican City, on July 10, 1985. At the ceremony, Ambassador Wilson himself sat down to transmit a general call, which immediately prompted responses from other radio stations. The original HV1CN first went on the air on October 8, 1957 using old army surplus equipment. In 1965, William Halligan, the founder of Hallicrafters, Inc., donated a complete station made by his firm. Of the three stations associated with the Vatican in 1985, only HV1CN transmitted from within its walls.
Over the years, Ambassador Wilson has received numerous awards in recognition of his work, including the Theodore Roosevelt Award from the Navy League of the U.S., 1981; the Brotherhood Award of the Association of Christians and Jews, 1983; and the Gold Medal of the Italian Red Cross.
Ambassador Wilson is married to Elizabeth (Johnson) Wilson, and has two daughters Anne Marie Wilson and Marcia Wilson Hobbs. The Wilson home base is in Los Angeles, California. http://library.georgetown.edu/dept/speccoll/cl148.htmQuote: He [Frank Shakespeare] was ambassador to Portugal from 1985 to 1987, when William Wilson, also a Knight of Malta, as ambassador to the Vatican following Wilson's fall from favor. http://www.mosquitonet.com/~prewett/ncrmay891415.htmlQuote: Wilson, William A.
